Spice up your life
Easy savoury spice blend recipe for daily nutrition
I discovered this little recipe in Dr Stephen Gundry’s book Diet Evolution and kept coming back to it, so I figured it was definitely worth sharing.
A little colourful pot of this spice mix sits on a little shelf next to my cooker along with Celtic salt, black pepper and organic olive oil.
I find it’s all I need for day to day cooking.
A jar will last a few months and I sprinkle it on everything, either in addition to or instead of salt and pepper.
It goes perfectly with scrambled eggs; add to the eggs a minute or so before serving and stir for 1 minute to release the flavour. Delicious!
It means you’re ingesting these healthy herbs and spices every day and you can use it to add flavour to pretty much anything.

Ingredients (organic where possible)
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast (Gundry says not to use if you have Crohn’s disease or similar)
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon dried parsley
2 teaspoons dried thyme
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons mustard powder
2 teaspoons paprika
½ teaspoon ground turmeric
½ teaspoon celery seeds (I can never find these - leave them out if needs be).
Method
Combine all of the ingredients in a spice blender, grinder or pestle and mortar to mix well and pulverise the dried herbs and spices. Transfer to a shaker bottle or jar with a tight fitting lid. I use a Kilner jar with a lid that can be twisted to dispense different quantities. It cost about a fiver.
Enjoy!
